Lisa Barri

Lisa Barri "emerged as one of the most sensitive and charismatic actresses to surface in years." A native of New York City, she grew up in The Bronx with a deep passion for the theater at a young age. Her first Broadway audition happened when she was a child for Liz Swados' Runaways, and although she did not land a role, she was smitten forever with the acting bug.

As a teen, Lisa studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she became the "new hopeful for stardom." After graduating from college on a full four year scholarship for acting, she studied with Joel Friedman, director and co-founder of the Public Theater, as well as Alice Spivak.

Lisa is known in the New York theater community as a "vibrant actress." Some of the roles she has played are: Agnes in The Shadow Box, Prudence in Beyond Therapy, and Frankie in Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune.

Working in many theaters around New York City, she has helped develop plays for several playwrights. She originated the Off-Broadway roles of Ariel in Behind the Veil, and Kim in Splitting Headache. On screen, Lisa starred as Leslie in A Dance of Time for Cavalieri Productions.

Lisa enjoys writing as well, having written Invisible Child, a one-woman play, and the children's book A Girl and her Basketball.

She has taught theater and literature at both LaGuardia H.S. for the Performing Arts, and Stuyvesant H.S. She enjoys sharing with kids, and has often become an advocate for children. She is also an animal lover with three of her own - two cats, Amica and Hope, and a dog, Romeo (yes, like in the play).

"An outstanding actress who touches the depth of soul" - Lisa is well on her way to an Oscar and a Tony. Watch out for her!
